Quick answers

What does Learn with Tahira offer?
Learn with Tahira offers specialist one-to-one mathematics tutoring and exam preparation, delivered entirely online by Ansa Ameer Tahira, MPhil in Mathematics. The services are: mathematics tutoring, IGCSE Mathematics, GCSE Mathematics, O Level Mathematics, A Level Mathematics, exam preparation, personalised 1-to-1 tutoring and online tutoring. Every engagement starts with a free 40-minute diagnostic assessment and a written learning plan. There are no group classes and no assistant tutors.
What mathematics curricula does Learn with Tahira support?
Learn with Tahira supports Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) and International Mathematics (0607), Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics (4MA1), the UK 9–1 GCSE specifications from AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR, Cambridge O Level Mathematics (4024) and Additional Mathematics (4037), Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics (9709) and Pearson Edexcel GCE A Level, AP Precalculus and AP Calculus AB & BC, and the Matric and Intermediate (F.Sc) boards PTB, FBISE and AKU-EB. It is an independent practice and is not affiliated with any examination board.
Is the tutoring online?
Yes, entirely. Every Learn with Tahira lesson is a live one-to-one session on Zoom, taught on a shared pen-tablet whiteboard so the student watches each line of working appear as it is explained. There are no physical premises anywhere and no in-person option. Sessions are booked in the student’s own time zone across the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, and every session is recorded to a private vault.
What does a mathematics tutoring session include?
A Learn with Tahira session is a live 60-minute one-to-one lesson on Zoom, taught by Ansa Ameer Tahira, MPhil in Mathematics. It opens by reviewing the previous practice set, works through new material written out step by step on a shared pen-tablet whiteboard, has the student attempt questions live, and closes with a targeted practice set. Every session is recorded to the student’s private vault.
Who is Learn with Tahira’s mathematics tutoring for?
It is for students aged roughly 13 to 18 working towards IGCSE, GCSE, O Level or A Level mathematics, including students resitting. It suits students who understand mathematics in class but lose marks under exam conditions, students rebuilding weak foundations, and students aiming for the top grades. Families in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan are all taught online.
Do you tutor IGCSE Mathematics online?
Yes. Learn with Tahira teaches IGCSE mathematics online, one-to-one, covering Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580, Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607 and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics 4MA1. Lessons focus on the Extended tier content and on the mark scheme conventions that decide how much of a student’s working actually scores. Every student starts with a free 40-minute diagnostic assessment.
Do you tutor GCSE Mathematics?
Yes. Learn with Tahira teaches GCSE mathematics online, one-to-one, across the 9–1 specifications used by AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR, at both Foundation and Higher tier. Lessons cover the full subject content plus the non-calculator paper, multi-step problem solving and the reasoning marks that separate grade 5 from grade 8. Preparation begins with a free 40-minute diagnostic assessment.
Do you tutor O Level Mathematics?
Yes. Learn with Tahira teaches Cambridge O Level Mathematics online, one-to-one, covering syllabus 4024 and Additional Mathematics 4037. The emphasis is on clean algebraic manipulation and on writing working out fully enough for the examiner to award every method mark, with separate timed practice for the non-calculator Paper 1 and the structured Paper 2.
Do you tutor A Level Mathematics?
Yes. Learn with Tahira teaches AS and A Level mathematics online, one-to-one, across Cambridge 9709 and the Pearson Edexcel specifications. Coverage includes Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Probability & Statistics. Lessons concentrate on method selection, on writing proof and justification the way mark schemes expect, and on synoptic questions that combine several topics.
How does Learn with Tahira decide what to teach a student?
Learn with Tahira begins with a Mark Audit rather than a syllabus. Every mark a student loses, in the free diagnostic and in every mock afterwards, is classified as one of four causes — knowledge, method, arithmetic or time — and ranked. This matters because only the first is repaired by teaching the topic again, which is why a capable student can revise for months without the grade moving. The teaching that follows runs in six stages: Diagnose, Rebuild, Recognise, Write, Rehearse and Refine, weighted according to whichever cause is costing the most marks. Refine re-runs the audit after every paper, so the plan follows the evidence rather than a fixed course.
How does the diagnostic assessment work?
The diagnostic is a free 40-minute one-to-one session at the start of any Learn with Tahira engagement. The student works through targeted problems while the tutor observes how they approach them rather than only whether the answer is right. Within 24 hours the family receives a written Mathematical Progression Roadmap listing the syllabus gaps found, the order they would be closed in, and realistic milestones. There is no cost and no obligation.
How are tutoring sessions scheduled?
Sessions are booked in the student’s own time zone and recur weekly. The booking page supports Eastern and Pacific time in the United States, UK time, Gulf Standard Time in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan Standard Time, converting every available slot automatically. The tutor works from Pakistan Standard Time. Recurring weekly lesson times are agreed individually after the free diagnostic assessment.
How can parents track progress?
Parents receive a structured written progress report by WhatsApp or email every two weeks, covering topic mastery, completed mock exam timings and any adjustment made to the learning plan. Progress is measured against the written roadmap produced after the diagnostic, so there is a fixed reference point rather than a general impression. Every lesson recording is also available to the family.
How much does mathematics tutoring with Learn with Tahira cost?
Learn with Tahira quotes each student individually after a free 40-minute diagnostic assessment, rather than publishing a single hourly rate. The quote reflects what the assessment finds: which syllabus gaps are real, how many sessions a week the written roadmap calls for, and how long support is likely to be needed. The diagnostic and the roadmap cost nothing, there is no registration fee, no materials fee and no minimum term, and no payment is ever taken through the website.
How do I book a mathematics tutoring session?
Open the booking page at learnwithtahira.com/book, select your time zone, and choose one of the published free diagnostic slots. Enter the student’s details and what you would like to improve. No payment details are required. The 40-minute assessment is free, the written learning plan follows within 24 hours, and you decide afterwards whether to continue.

Getting started

What happens in the free diagnostic session?
The diagnostic runs for 40 minutes and is free of charge. The student works through targeted problems while Tahira watches how they approach them — which method they reach for, where the reasoning stalls, how they set their working out. It is an assessment of thinking, not a test of recall, and it is deliberately structured so it does not feel like an exam.
What do we receive afterwards?
Within 24 hours of the diagnostic you receive a written Mathematical Progression Roadmap: the syllabus gaps identified, the order they would be closed in, timeline milestones, and the specific exam-board technique adjustments needed to reach the target grade. You keep it whether or not you go on to book lessons.
Is there any obligation after the diagnostic?
None. The session is free, the roadmap is yours, and there is no commitment of any kind before you decide.
How soon can lessons start?
Usually within the same week as the diagnostic, subject to slot availability in your time zone. Slots in the busiest after-school windows fill first, particularly in the months before an examination series.
What should we bring to the diagnostic?
Nothing is required, but a recent mock paper, school report or marked assessment makes the audit considerably sharper. If there is a specific topic that triggered the enquiry, mention it when you book.

Lessons and scheduling

How long are the tutoring lessons?
Standard lessons are 60 minutes. The initial diagnostic assessment is exactly 40 minutes and is free of charge.
How often should a student have lessons?
One weekly session suits most students working steadily towards an exam a year or more away. Students rebuilding foundations under time pressure, or taking Additional Mathematics alongside their main syllabus, often need two. The roadmap gives a specific recommendation rather than a package to sign up to.
Who actually teaches the lessons?
Ansa Ameer Tahira personally, in every session. There are no assistant tutors and no rotating pool: the person who runs your diagnostic is the person who teaches every lesson afterwards.
How are sessions scheduled across time zones?
Sessions are booked in your local time and recur weekly. There are established slots for families in the USA and the UAE alongside UK and Pakistan hours, and the booking page converts available slots to your own time zone automatically.
What happens if a student misses a session?
Every session is recorded and archived to the student’s private vault, so a missed slot never means a missed topic. Where notice is given, sessions are rescheduled rather than lost.
Are lessons available during school holidays?
Yes, and holidays are often the most productive time to close a foundational gap, because there is no competing homework load.

Technology and equipment

What technology do we need for online lessons?
A stable internet connection, and a desktop or laptop with a working webcam and microphone. Lessons run on Zoom, so there is nothing else to install and no separate platform to sign up for.
Do we need a writing tablet?
It is strongly recommended but not required. An inexpensive stylus or writing tablet lets the student write directly on the shared digital whiteboard, which means misconceptions surface during the lesson rather than a week later. Without one, paper and a webcam is a workable substitute.
How does the shared whiteboard work?
Tahira teaches using a high-precision pen-tablet driving a shared digital whiteboard. Every formula, substitution and line of working appears as it is being explained, so the student sees a full solution take shape rather than hearing it described.
Are lessons recorded, and who can see the recordings?
Every session is recorded and archived to the student’s own vault. Recordings are available to the student and their family only; they are never shared or published.
What happens if the internet drops during a lesson?
Rejoin and the session continues with the whiteboard state preserved. If a substantial part of a lesson is lost to a technical problem, it is made up rather than charged for.

Curriculum and exam boards

Which exam boards and qualifications do you cover?
Cambridge IGCSE (0580 and 0607), Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (4MA1), the UK 9–1 GCSE specifications, Cambridge O Level Mathematics (4024) and Additional Mathematics (4037), and AS and A Level mathematics across Cambridge 9709 and Edexcel. AP Calculus and the Matric / Intermediate (F.Sc) boards are also covered.
What if my child sits a different specification?
Say so when you book and the diagnostic will establish whether the topic coverage is a genuine fit. If it is not, you will be told that rather than sold a course.
Are past papers included?
Yes. Practice runs on curated topical compilations of real Cambridge and Edexcel past-paper questions grouped by syllabus area, moving to full timed papers once topic coverage is secure. Mark schemes and examiner reports are used in lessons, not just for marking.
Do you help with school coursework and internal exams?
Yes, where it supports the wider plan. The priority is always the terminal examination, but school assessments are useful checkpoints and are treated as such.
Can you help a student who has fallen a long way behind?
Yes, and this is more common than parents expect. The work is to identify which prerequisite topics are missing and rebuild them in dependency order, which is usually faster than reteaching whole years of content.

Progress and reporting

How is progress tracked and reported to parents?
Parents receive structured written progress reports by WhatsApp or email every two weeks. These cover topic mastery, completed mock exam timings, and any adjustments made to the progression roadmap.
How quickly should we expect to see improvement?
Technique changes — how working is written, how time is allocated — often show up in the next assessment. Rebuilding a genuinely weak foundation takes longer, typically a term before it shows in a grade. The roadmap sets out realistic milestones rather than promises.
What if the tutoring is not working?
Tell us. The fortnightly reports exist so that conversation happens early and with evidence. If the plan needs changing it gets changed; if a different kind of support would serve the student better, you will be told that plainly.
Do you guarantee a particular grade?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Too much of an exam result sits outside a tutor’s control. What is offered instead is an honest assessment of what is achievable in the time available, and a plan built to reach it.

Pricing and practicalities

How does billing and pricing work?
The diagnostic assessment is entirely free and carries no obligation. Lesson packages are calculated after it, based on the student’s roadmap targets and the session frequency the plan calls for, so you are quoting against a real assessment rather than a guess.
Why is pricing not listed on the site?
Because the honest answer depends on how much support a student actually needs, and that is not knowable before the diagnostic. Quoting a headline rate before assessing the student would mean either over-selling or under-serving them. The pricing page sets out exactly what is included, and the cancellation terms.
How do we get in touch with a question first?
WhatsApp is fastest for quick questions about availability or fit; email suits longer messages where you want to share a school report. Both are on the contact page and both are answered by Tahira personally.
