Who you are dealing with

Learn with Tahira is an independent online mathematics tutoring practice run by Ansa Ameer Tahira, who holds an MPhil in Mathematics and teaches every lesson personally. It is not an agency, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any examination board.

The free diagnostic session

  • The initial diagnostic session lasts 40 minutes and is free of charge.
  • No payment details are requested at any point during booking.
  • You receive a written learning plan within 24 hours of the session, and it is yours to keep whether or not you continue.
  • There is no obligation to book further lessons, and no follow-up sales pressure.

Booking a session

Sessions are booked through the booking page in your own time zone. A slot is held for you the moment the booking is submitted, and the system prevents two families from taking the same slot. You receive a confirmation email containing a private management link.

Bookings are confirmed by Tahira, normally within 24 hours, by WhatsApp. If a booked time turns out not to be workable, you will be offered an alternative rather than simply cancelled.

Rescheduling and cancellation

These are the rules for both sides.

  • You can cancel or reschedule free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. Use the management link in your confirmation email, or message us on WhatsApp. Cancelling releases the slot immediately so another family can take it.
  • Under 24 hours’ notice, we will always try to move the lesson rather than lose it, but a paid session cancelled at short notice may be counted as taken. The free diagnostic is never charged for, whenever it is cancelled.
  • If a student does not attend and no notice was given, the session is counted as taken.
  • If we have to cancel or move a session, you are offered a replacement slot at a time that suits you, or a refund of that session if it had been paid for.
  • If a technical problem loses a substantial part of a lesson, that lesson is made up rather than charged for.

Payment

  • The diagnostic session is free. Nothing is payable before it.
  • Lesson packages are quoted after the diagnostic, once there is a written plan to quote against. Pricing is not published in advance because the amount of support a student needs is not knowable before they are assessed.
  • Ongoing lessons are paid for in advance of the period they cover. The terms of each package are set out in writing before anything is due.
  • You can stop at any time. Unused, prepaid sessions are refunded.

What is included

  • Live one-to-one lessons on Zoom with a shared pen-tablet whiteboard.
  • A written progression roadmap after the diagnostic, updated as the student progresses.
  • Curated topical past-paper practice and mark schemes.
  • A recording of every session, kept in the student’s private vault.
  • A written progress report to parents every two weeks.

What is expected

  • The student attends on time and with the equipment described on the online tutoring page.
  • Practice set between lessons is attempted. Tutoring does not substitute for a student attempting questions themselves.
  • Lessons are conducted respectfully. Repeatedly disruptive behaviour may end the arrangement, with any prepaid sessions refunded.

What is not promised

No particular grade is guaranteed. Too much of an examination result sits outside a tutor’s control for such a promise to be honest, and you should be wary of anyone who makes one. What is promised instead is an accurate assessment, a clear written plan, consistent teaching, and a straight answer whenever you ask for one — including when the answer is that tutoring is not what your child needs.

Recordings and materials

Lesson recordings and supplied practice materials are for the enrolled student’s personal use. Please do not redistribute or publish them. Recordings are deleted on request at any time.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top of the page changes with them, and families with active bookings are emailed. Changes never apply retrospectively to a session already booked.
